He directs our paths

But if we are not listening to His instructions, we can easily veer off the path He has before us.

This is not the time to back away or take the wrong route.

This is not the time to hide.

This is not the time to retire.

It is time to REFIRE.

What plans are you making? What dreams are you dreaming?

We need to move forward, we need to be bold, we need to make a difference, we need to live.

If Elijah, one man, like us, could, through his prayers, cause the rain to cease and then start again – imagine what our prayers can also do.

It wasn’t in who he was.

It wasn’t his eloquent words.

It wasn’t his situation.

It was because of the One he believed in. The One he knew.

Our prayers are powerful

It’s time to stop playing around

It’s time to stop acting like everything is alright

It’s time to stop denying what is happening around us

It’s Time

It’s time to stand up.

It’s time to train for what is coming.

It’s time to fight.

For our families

For our communities

For our country

For the Kingdom of God

For The Truth

Now is the time

It’s time to fan the flame in ourselves and let all those around watch us burn.

It’s time to allow the consuming fire to spread through every area of our lives so others can catch the spark.

It’s time to refire what is in us. It’s always been there.

Find it. Relight it. Let it consume you. Use it for His glory.

The time is NOW

What you say matters

Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (NKJV)

Your words being able to create death or life is powerful.

Your choice of words and the things you speak have significance both for your life and everyone around you.

You can tear down or you can build up

You can wound or you can heal

You can ensnare or you can liberate

You can destroy or you can restore

What you say is up to you

What are you saying about yourself? What are you saying to your family? Your friends? Your neighbors?

Think about whether you want to create LIFE or DEATH. And use your words accordingly.

Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit – you choose.

The Message Bible

Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life…

The Passion Translation

Have you ever thought about what makes good soil?

It has the rocks removed.

The weeds are regularly pulled.

The soil is loose.

Be good soil

We need to find and remove those things that are stumbling blocks that keep us from growing and expanding.

If you let the weeds grow, we will not have room for the valuable things to grow in our lives. They will be pushed out or overtaken by the unimportant or mundane.

We need to be flexible to God’s will and what He is telling us rather than demanding our way or being stuck in unproductive ruts and routines.

The best soil doesn’t grow the same thing all the time.

There are seasons for a reason – planting, growing, harvesting, replenishing, maintaining.

There are times when different types of crops are grown for various reasons. Some are grown for consumption, beauty, nourishment and attraction of beneficial insects. Other plants are for maintaining and replenishing the minerals and chemical balance within the soil to prepare it for what is to come.

Maybe you are in the middle of a season, and you know you are right where you belong and doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing.

However, sometimes we find ourselves questioning what we are doing, or supposed to be doing. Could we be doing it better? Should we be doing something completely different?

Changing seasons always require a transformation

Regardless of what season you are in, transitioning to a new season always means putting away things no longer needed to make room for the new.

Whether it’s switching snow suits for bathing suits, or pool floats for snow sleds, something always has to be put down to make room for what is needed for the future.

We need to ask ourselves what we can put down? What we need to remove? What we must change?

We can’t move forward when we are burdened down and buried with the present or the past.

What is God asking of you in this season?

What is your soil like? Are you in a transition period?

Maybe he is asking you to do something different than you have ever done before. Are you prepared to let go and move forward? Are you willing to try something new? It can be scary. It can also be exciting.

He may ask you to learn something you never thought you would do. He may be preparing you to take a step you never imagined or thought possible.

He may ask you to pick something up that you had previously laid down, but now is the time to run with it again.

He may be readying you for a period of rest. That does NOT mean doing nothing at all. It means taking the time and resources necessary to refill and refresh so you are ready for the next season.

Regardless of the season, you must know what your soil needs

Put down your electronic devices. Turn off the noise. Remove the distractions.

Get outside and enjoy God’s creation.

Have face to face, in person conversations with other people.

But most of all, pray, read your Bible, listen to that still, small voice that has a multitude of things to say.

When you do, your soil will be good. You’ll enjoy the changing of the seasons. You will have faith you are where you need to be, doing what you need to be doing.

You will have the peace, hope, and joy that many others are searching for daily.

Words Matter https://whirlwindandfire.com/words-matter/ https://whirlwindandfire.com/words-matter/#respond Thu, 05 May 2022 22:55:35 +0000 https://whirlwindandfire.com/?p=807

Words are important.

The ones we speak.

The ones we hear.

Be aware of them and guard them.  They affect you and those around you.

Proverbs 25:11 – A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. (ESV)

If you’ve ever felt like current circumstances are too big, too confusing, or just downright overwhelming then welcome to our community.

We know what it feels like when it seems like there are so many things swirling around us that we can’t do anything about them because they’re just too big.

But we aren’t supposed to do it on our own. We aren’t supposed to take it all on. We aren’t supposed to be an island of one.

We are a community. But even more importantly…

We are accepted. We are loved. We are surrounded. All by the Creator of the Universe. And He will always be there in every situation.

In the midst of the whirlwind, He is always there.

Sometimes life just seems like a whirlwind. Everything is circling, we don’t know which way to turn, or what to do next. There’s just too much and we get overwhelmed by it all.

But in the Old Testament, do you know what happened in the midst of a whirlwind?

God showed up. Right in the middle of it!

In 2 King 2:1 God showed up to take Elijah up to heaven by a whirlwind.

In Job 38:1 and 40:6, He answered Job out of the whirlwind.

He will do the same for us. Every situation, every fear, every loss, every overwhelm that we have, He shows up in the middle of it all.

When the fire is hot and you don’t think you can take anymore, know that the Refiner has you in His hands.

God also shows up in the fires. Whether we create them ourselves or, we are thrust into them, He is there.

In Exodus 3:2 an Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush.

He also went before Moses and the children of Israel by night in a pillar of fire to give them light.

When things get hot and we are afraid, remember, He is there.

Fire is used to purify. It separates precious metal from fillers and purifies that metal. We are being purified. He can use any situation, even ones we don’t want or ask for, to create in us what he wants and ultimately, what we need.

In the Whirlwind or the Fire, find Him in the middle of it all. He’s there.

Regardless of whether you are dealing with overwhelming circumstances or situations that feel devastating, He will never leave you. He will never forsake you. He will always stick closer than a friend or a brother.

You can always count on Him to be there when you need, with exactly what you need to face your situation.

No matter what you have been through in the past, what you are dealing with at this moment, or what will come your way…

Find Him in the Middle of It All.

Jeremiah 29:13, Matthew 7:7
